Student Loan Scam — from Rocky Mtn Homelessness

If you’re thinking that taking out loans will help you to get an education, you may be right. But what you’ll learn may also surprise you. Many college graduates are learning that the reality of the “American Dream” is actually a nightmare. Unless you want to ruin yourself financially, DON’T DO IT!–DON’T TAKE OUT LOANS IN ORDER TO GET A COLLEGE DEGREE! Seriously, there is no guarantee that you’ll get a job, much less a high paying job, upon graduation. There is also (and few people are talking about this) a tremendous amount of discrimination that college grads have no control over. Women, for example, typically are hired for dead-end clerical jobs that prevent them from ever gaining positions of power within most companies. Students who come from poor or working class families typically don’t have the “connections” that are so important for obtaining the really good jobs. Minority students of color face the “dead end job” dilemma that economically oppresses women. And some employers conduct credit checks on potential employees, leaving some college grads with student loan debt unemployable! Knowing all this, graduating from college can leave you with tremendous debt that can not be eliminated by bankruptcy. Even if you find yourself homeless, you will still be required to pay off those loans. Sallie Mae, contrary to popular opinion, is a for profit company. Lenders can sell your loans, add interest and fees onto the balance and make huge profits if you are unable to pay

The Advantages Of Student Loan Debt Consolidation Calculators

When you’re looking to get out of debt, you’re more than likely under a lot of pressure. It’s about this time that many people have the bill collectors peathing down their necks, calling them at dinner and even calling their bosses; it can be very stressful and it can cause even the most sane people to feel like running away from it all. However, all you need in this situation is a little student loan debt help. You can find that help with student loan debt consolidation companies. For the first home buyers who also show interest in property management Auckland or debt consolidation, you can check online.

These companies will bundle your debt into one lump sum and then will offer solutions so that you can get out of debt faster and easier. These companies will usually have student loan debt consolidation calculators on their websites where they will tell you when they will be able to get you out of debt. This can be very freeing mentally as you’ll finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

For these student loan debt consolidation calculators to work, you have to follow the organization’s instructions to a T. Sure, the student loan debt consolidation calculators can provide mental catharsis but they’re useless if you don’t follow the organization’s instructions. For example, if the organization tells you to mail off a monthly payment equal to X and you miss a few payments, you’re not going to get out of debt anytime soon.

Also, when you see a student loan debt consolidation calculator on a website, make sure you look out for scams. Try to gauge the professionalism of the company, navigate the site to see if they are legit and do an internet search on that company to see if anyone else calls it a scam. You can follow any debt consolidation calculator on the internet as they are merely tools to show you how they will get you out of debt but never actually send anyone any money until you’re absolutely sure they are a legitimate company who actually wants to help you.

You can find debt relief and student loans are what most people stress about when they have a lot of debt. That’s because bankruptcy won’t get rid of them and you are stuck with them no matter what. So make sure you pay them back, never miss a payment and try to use a student loan debt consolidation calculator to get yourself out of student loan debt.

Hartmann: OWS student loans – are student debt strikes coming?

Sarah Jaffe, AlterNet, joins Thom Hartmann. For the first time ever – outstanding student loan debt this year will top one trillion dollars. And with tuition for college soaring – and prospects for jobs after college plummeting – the situation for students across America looks grim. But now – with the Occupy Wall Street movement in full swing – student debtors are feeling empowered – and are striking back against the big banks that got bailed out three years ago but are unwilling to help their debt-saddled customers now.

Reducing Your Student Loan Debt: Barack Obama’s plan to help College Student Loan Borrowers

Share this: my.barackobama.com Nearly six million students who have both guaranteed and direct loans will soon be able to refinance them and get a discount under President Barack Obama’s student loan debt reform plan: “Help Americans Manage Student Loan Debt”. You’ll only have to write one check a month and within a year it will ensure that more than 1.6 million college students won’t be required to make loan repayments over 10% of their income. President Obama’s plan will make college more affordable for students. All remaining debt is forgiven after 20 years of payments for college students. Debt is forgiven after 10 years for teachers, nurses, members of the armed forces, and others in public service careers. These are just some of the important repayment options designed to make student loan repayments more affordable. All of this progress builds off student loan reform President Obama signed into law in 2010. All of this progress makes sure that more students from working and middle class families can get college educations and the opportunities that come with them. Bankers don’t get to be middlemen for student loans anymore. We saved billion dollars by taking them out of the equation and a lot of the money is going towards loans and grants to make college more affordable for more people. Share this news and join the movement. President Obama needs your voice to be heard. He needs you to tell Congress that reforms like this are what we’re fighting for. Get the

Obama Offers Some Student Loan Relief, but It’s Not Nearly Enough

Amidst growing support for the Occupy Wall Street movement throughout the country, President Barack Obama has decided to fast track a proposal to ease the burden on those buried in student loan debt. According to the president’s new plan, people with direct government student loans and government-backed private loans will be able to consolidate the two into one government loan, allowing borrowers a lower government rate and a .5 percent interest rate reduction. The plan will also lower the cap on maximum repayment of loans based on discretionary income from 15 down to 10 percent and forgive remaining debt after 20 years instead of 25.

Student loans for adult students with bad credit?

Well, I’m in a two-year degree program at the local community college, but need to take out a student loan for a computer and books. I’m 20 years old, married, and unemployed at the time (seven and a half months pregnant). My husband is only 19, and hasn’t been at his job for longer than three months (although he’s been consistently employed for the past year and a half). Parents as cosigners is not an option- so any advice?
Well, I got a grant, but it’s simply not enough. Thanks for the suggestions- I’ll definately check them out!

Tackling Private/Federal Student Loan debt consolidation with 100% income?

I have a plan this school year, to take out federal student loans, collect whatever grants and scholarships I can, and handle the remaining expenses with a private student loan from who I bank with (Wells Fargo). Then, consolidate those loans, and throw 90%-100% of my income at it automatically for the whole school year.

All things considered, dorm, declining meal balance plan, tuition, and books. I’m looking at total expenditures amounting to over ,000 USD
I earn approx ,000 USD per year at my current job. Living on campus would be cheaper for me than to continue staying in my own apartment.

I figured that if I have things like living expenses already covered by the loans (food, dorm), and I only get like for myself out of my paycheck, and the remainder of the money gets funneled at the debt… that would put my credit in a good spot to repeat the process for the next school year.

In turn, if I do this all 4 years, and get my Bachelors in Biology, Id only end up owing about ,000 after 4 years instead of nearly 0,000 like many students.

The only thing Id need a little cash for, is transportation (I use my bicycle, and public transportation… car insurance is too expensive), and money for laundry, and a little pocket change to go to the movies with some friends on occasion. Thats why I would want about from my paycheck or so.

I think this plan can work, and I’d like any helpful input that everyone might have.

Long-term, I intend to go to medical school and study to be a doctor (GP and cardiologist). I’m not interested in money. I want to do this, because I seriously believe that our government will NOT take the necessary steps to save itself from the "economic globalization efforts" that threaten the U.S. Dollar as our global reserve currency. I sincerely believe that we will find ourselves under the banner of the "Bancor" one day.
If that happens, things are going to change in the U.S. I believe the welfare aspect of our country will be totally shot. No more "helpful handouts" for Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

So I want to be a doctor in order to VOLUNTEER to help the population when those hard times come. People understand that doctors should be paid, even if they are so poor that all they can afford is to bake you a cake and give you their love.

I’m attending Nova Southeastern University. Though I am considering going to a UNCF (United ***** College Fund(ed)) school (Bethune-Cookman?), after I finish my first year at NSU, to get access to more scholarships.

I plan to get married. My girlfriend is still living with her parents in Richmond, VA. So maybe not till I complete my Bio major.

Anyway, does anyone have any advice on my plan?
                                              To answer Mr. Buresh:

Uh, thanks. I’m not actually in an "adverse" situation. I’m just looking for a few quick 2nd and 3rd opinions on my plan, and any extra ideas if someone has any.

I was wondering what is the most dependable source where I can get a student loan that is possibly has a low interest rate and longer payment period so the payments are as big? If you have any suggestions or have knowledge from previous experience it would help so much!

My parents have already taken out loans in my name for school (with my permission), so I know my social security number has passed through the system before. Would my credit affect my ability to get another student loan? What about already having some out in my name? Thanks!

I may be defaulting on my student loan this month, which I pray will not be the case. Does anyone know of any type of program designed to help those who have student loans and are in endanger of going default on their loans? I have already used my three years of deferments up, due to low-paying positions.
