Well, I’m in a two-year degree program at the local community college, but need to take out a student loan for a computer and books. I’m 20 years old, married, and unemployed at the time (seven and a half months pregnant). My husband is only 19, and hasn’t been at his job for longer than three months (although he’s been consistently employed for the past year and a half). Parents as cosigners is not an option- so any advice?
Well, I got a grant, but it’s simply not enough. Thanks for the suggestions- I’ll definately check them out!
My parents make too much money per year, so I am not eligible for grants or student loans. However they are trying to pay off all of their debt and are not willing to pay the rest of tuition, after all my scholarships.
I’m a rising junior with no scholarship money anymore, and my savings are completely drained. I’ve been looking at student loans, but I just started a new job and have no credit right now, so i need a so-signer on my loans. My parents have already said they won’t co-sign for me, and I don’t have anyone else to ask.
Does anyone know of any student loans for around 00 that I would be eligible for without a co-signer?
I filed my FAFSA on sunday. The problem is that according to my parents tax information, I’m not eligible for federal assitance because they made to much money. What the government is neglecting to realize is that my parents aren’t paying for my college.
I’m currently working on my Bachelor’s of Science degree, and I’m just under halfway there. Unfortunately, my parents have both passed away, so I rely entirely on grants and student loans to foot my tuition bill and living expenses. I also work part time, but it’s not enough to cover living expenses alone while going to school. My expected annual income after graduation is in the 38-40K range. I’ve already taken out over 10K in loans, and like I said, I still have probably another 3 years at a major university to go. How much can I take out in student loans and still be able to pay it all back?
I have pretty bad credit, so i don’t think i’d be able to take out a regular loan. My parents have already taken out loans in my name for school (with my permission), so I know my social security number has passed through the system before. Would my credit affect my ability to get another student loan? What about already having some out in my name? Thanks!
I recently graduated from law school and am desperately trying to consolidate my student loans but I have bad credit. My parents are willing to co-sign but they also have bad credit.
I want to take ownership of the debt incurred by my parents when they co-signed my education. I pay everything on my own now, but I would like to take their responsibility away even if it is on paper.
i am 20 years old. i have put off college since i graduated in 08. i am tired of working minimum wage jobs. i really want to attend college now, and as i was talking to my parents about it they tell me that they arent gonna pay for me to go. i dont qualify for fasfa because my parents make to much money. what kind of student loans can i apply for as for having poor credit?
and has been doing so for 12 years straight? Or would you encourage them to use the degree(s) they already have and start working?
I know someone like this and I am just curious.
She also lives off of the student loans, not off her parents if that matters.
This involves hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans, which need to be paid back at some point, so they continue with school to avoid the inevitable.
I have been in community college for the first 2 years of my schooling so I have not had to take out any student loans yet. I have been applying for loans for this next semester and I have been getting really high interest rates. Some are over 15% which I feel is riduculous. I am 21 years old with good credit and I have used my parents as co-borrowers when applying. They do not have great credit and my dad makes too much money for me to get any government help, but they don’t pay for anything. Where should I go for lower interest rate on loans? Also, what is a good amount to take out if I decide not to work next semester? Thanks!
My parents are married so any information I use goes for both parents.
My parents are encouraging me to go somewhere very close to our house, but i have my heart set on going somewhere else. They are trying to sell me the idea that i may never pay off my college loans.
My friends son and his ex wife has asked him to co sign for a college loan which is not re payable until the year 2012.
I do not understand college loans and he has asked me what I think of it. He believes he may be getting himself into some kind of a financial trap.
I did not know a college loan required a co signer. Does it?
He already payed for his 1st years tuition and his dorm fees and all that stuff. I do not want to give him mis information, but clearly he is concerned. Who do we ask about this for sound financial advice? Do you know anything about college loans for an 18 yr old child? Do you think he is being ripped off? Do the parents co sign a college loan for K not repayable for at least 5 yrs?
On Aug 27 ‘09, the home minister of india P.Chidambaram said that the government would provide interest subsidy for students whose parents’ annual income is below 4.5 lakhs? Has there been a GO passed in accordance with this??
I’m a sophomore and my parents are not helping me with college. I want to start thinking about how I’m going to pay for it. I don’t exactly know what you have to do to get college loans and all of that stuff. Could someone give me some info on the process please?
So im 17 years old and my whole life ive wanted to go to a good college… After all the years of making my self do well in school i just applied last month. Now my parents are talking about how ungratefull i am and that i dont deserve anything and that i cant go to school unless they pay for it??? Ok, I am going to be a sophomore in college this year at the University of Tennessee. Tuition, along with room and board, and a meal plan, is going to be approx. 14,000 for the year (Aug-May). I don’t qualify for federal aid, my parents make too much money, yet we can’t pay for my schooling. I did get ,500 in Stafford loans though. But even after that, I need about ,000 in additional private student loans to cover the rest after my scholarship.
I applied by myself and didn’t get approved because I don’t have any credit. My parents didnt get approved as cosigners, neither did my sisters (which got approved last year), or SEVEN other working people I tried. (a couple of which make k+ a year alone) I mean, really, what am I going to have to do to get an education? It shouldn’t be this hard!
And I know the economy sucks right now… but really?
How can i find a loan for my education with bad credit? I made some mistakes so please dont judge me. I am just looking for some wise council. My parents will not cosing for my brothers or I to go to school so therefore I am left to figure out how to pay for it myself.
